The slogan”six flags over Texas” is a well-known statement when it comes to Texan history. It indicates the six powers that ruled the current state of Texas. This concerns the countries: Spain, France, Mexico, The Rebublic of Texas, The United States and the confederate States of America.
28th state : Texas
Texas was originally populated by Indian tribes. On November 6, 1528 the Spanish conquistader Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was the first European to set foot on Texan soil. Texas was part of the new-Spain colony in the first centuries after Texas Spanish conquest. On December 29, 1845 US president James Poke ratified a law that annexed Texas. Texas became the 28th State of the United States.
